Record Warm June at Kotzebue

June 2019

Thanks to very early loss of Kotzebue Sound sea ice and, as a result, exceptionally warm water in Kotzebue Sound, June was the warmest of record at Kotzebue The average temperature for the month was 56.8°F (13.8°C). This is 11.1°F (6.2°C) above normal and easily exceeds the previous warmest June of 2004, when the average temperature was 53.4°F (11.9°C).
